Losing 3 World Cup races is costly, but Birds of Prey organizers remain committed to annual event.

The Vail Valley Foundation will face substantial financial ramifications from the cancellation of all three Birds of Prey World Cup races earlier this month. Still, the nonprofit expressed gratitude to the partners, workers, volunteers and sponsors who did everything in their power to prepare for the events — and said it remains committed to hosting races in 2024.

“Canceling all three races this year was heartbreaking for our Birds of Prey team and Beaver Creek community, no doubt,” said Sarah Franke, event director and senior vice president of operations for the Vail Valley Foundation. “But in witnessing the tremendous effort and passion poured into the event each day, both on and off-hill, it is hard to walk away from the week with anything but immense gratitude and pride.”
