Artist Hospitality Assistant
The Vilar Performing Arts Center is looking for a part-time, on-call Artist Hospitality Assistant to support artist services during events. As part of the team, you’ll play an important role in creating a welcoming and seamless experience for the artists and performers we host.
This is an event-driven position with highly variable hours based on the Vilar’s performance schedule. Early mornings, late nights, and extended shifts may be required, with needs changing day-to-day, week-to-week, and season-to-season.
- Set up and tear down artist hospitality areas, including the green room, dressing rooms, and backstage spaces; coordinate coffee service, catered meals, and snacks/beverages.
- Monitor backstage stock levels and replenishing snacks, beverages, paper goods, cleaning supplies, and catering supplies.
- Serve as a point of contact for artists, tour managers, and production staff regarding hospitality needs.
- Assist with artist arrivals, departures, and backstage logistical needs.
- Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming backstage spaces, dressing rooms, kitchen, and storage areas.
- Ensure the green room and dressing rooms are prepared according to artist specifications and venue standards.
- Provide exceptional customer service and anticipate artist’s needs in a fast-paced environment.
- Assist with special events, receptions, meet-and-greets, and other artist-related activities as assigned.
- Support Vilar Production Manager, Artist Relations Manager and guest Tour Production Coordinators as required.
- Shop for supplies, food, equipment, and related items as needed.
- Ad hoc projects as assigned.
A successful candidate should possess:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred. Minimum of one year of experience in events, hospitality, food and beverage, hotels, or related industry.
- Must have basic cooking skills and knowledge, familiarity with food safety.
- Must be able to carry up to 40lbs.
- Capacity to work independently as part of a strong team.
- Strong initiative, problem-solving ability, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent management and organizational skills, ability to work on multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with flexibility, the capacity to generate innovative solutions and strategies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Eagerness to provide support to the greater Vail Valley Foundation staff as available and necessary.
This is an hourly, on-call position.
Compensation: Starting at $23/hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
This is an ongoing part-time opportunity, meaning we are always accepting applications and will hire on a rolling basis as positions become available.
