Five ‘can’t-miss’ fall events at the Vilar Performing Arts Center

Author: Julie Block

Fall means apple cider, pumpkin patches, colorful leaves, and a full season of activities and events at the Vail Valley Foundation’s Vilar Performing Arts Center! Here are five can’t-miss events we’re looking forward to at VPAC this season:

1. Cheap Trick

Coming up quick, it’s Cheap Trick! The world-renowned rock band will be performing at VPAC on Sept. 6. This is one you won’t want to miss, as the powerhouse group is gearing up for their 50th anniversary year. Make sure to get your tickets now at vilarpac.org/cheap-trick/.

What we love: Cheap Trick will be playing with Def Leppard and Journey at Coors Field on September 8, but you can see them at VPAC first, in an intimate setting unlike any stadium around!

2. Underground Sound

VPAC’s 14th annual ‘’Love for the Locals’ series returns to Beaver Creek Sept. 18 and runs through Nov. 14. Underground Sound features six up-and-coming songwriters and musical groups to provide spectacular off-season entertainment. The 2024 Underground Sound lineup includes:

What we love: The Six Show Pass. For $125, it includes a fully-transferable ticket to all six shows as well as one free drink at each performance. Divvy tickets up between coworkers or friends, or enjoy every show yourself! For the best experience, purchase a VIP Access Pass, which includes access to the May Gallery Patrons Lounge pre-show and through intermission, early entrance to the theater for priority seating, one drink, complimentary appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as warm cookies.

Passes and single-show tickets are on sale now at vilarpac.org/underground-sound.

3. Life is a Carnival: Last Waltz Tour ‘24

This tour pays tribute to the life of Canadian musical icon and ‘The Band’ guitarist Robbie Robertson. Life is a Carnival: Last Waltz Tour ‘24 captures the excitement of The Band’s historic 1976 Thanksgiving concert at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, often hailed as the greatest live concert of all time. The tour comes to VPAC on Oct. 26.

What we love: The show features a star-studded lineup including Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, famed rock producer Don Was, percussionist Cyril Neville, and other incredible musicians such as Ryan Bingham, Lukas Nelson, John Medeski, Dave Malone, Terence Higgins, Mark Mullins and The Levee Horns. Notably, this is the first time that Campbell and Tench have toured together since 2017, prior to the passing of Tom Petty. We can’t wait to see these legends back together!

Last Waltz Tour ‘24 tickets are on sale now at vilarpac.org/last-waltz-tour-24/.

4. Mountains & Minds: A Mental Health Summit to Strengthen Community

The Vail Valley Foundation is committed to elevating and destigmatizing conversations about mental and behavioral health in our community. That is why we are honored to host Mountains & Minds from Sept. 13-14 at VPAC alongside the Vail Symposium and Benj Gershman (O.A.R., What Could Be Bad podcast). The summit will feature two days of panel discussions and presentations, live podcast interviews and more.

What we love: The lineup of panelists and presenters features a variety of big names, including professional skier Drew Peterson, Food Network chef Robert Irvine, fitness guru and “The Pump” co-founder Adam Bornstein, singer-songwriter Stephen Kellogg, and more.

5. Puppy Pals LIVE!

Grab the little ones and head to VPAC on Sept. 8 for a howling good time! As seen on America's Got Talent, The Puppy Pals Comedic Stunt Dog Show features pups (mostly rescued) performing spectacular stunts, including climbing ladders, jumping rope, and even doing backflips. The event is full of surprises and laugh-out-loud canine comedy.

What we love: This family-friendly event is great for all ages and is sure to keep the kiddos laughing all evening.

Purchase tickets for Puppy Pals LIVE! at vilarpac.org/puppy-pals-live/.

Mark your calendars and make sure to join us at the Vilar Performing Arts Center this fall season!
