National Nonprofit Day 2025

National Nonprofit Day is August 17th

National Nonprofit Day, August 17th is the perfect time to celebrate what makes our community special. Like the wildflowers that bloom across our mountains each summer, the Vail Valley Foundation brings together diverse elements: art, education, athletics, and community supports to create something beautiful that elevates life in our valley. National Nonprofit Day is a day to celebrate the vital contributions that we provide that would otherwise not be possible without our unique organizational structure and donor base.

What makes us different?

Unlike many single-mission organizations, the VVF touches every corner of our community through our four pillars that work together to create lasting impact. We set out to improve and enrich the lives of everyone who works, lives in, or visits our valley. We seek out opportunities to collaborate with local governments, strategic partners, and other local nonprofits to ensure quality programming for all. Our position in the community, our longevity, our amazing board and donors, and YOU are why we are able to do the work we do.

Arts: The Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, Vilar Performing Arts Center, and our world-renowned Vail Dance Festival bring exceptional artistic talent directly to our mountain community, making world-class performances accessible to all.

Athletics: We tap into the outdoor-minded spirit of our mountain community and break down barriers to accessing elite athletics, from the GoPro Mountain Games to the Stifel Birds of Prey World Cup ski races.

Education: We provide vital education programming through YouthPower365 that helps our community's youth thrive through after-school enrichment, summer camps, mentorship, scholarship opportunities, and more.

Community Supports: We have always had the community at our center, but in 2023, we officially added this pillar to our ethos. From our work during the COVID-19 pandemic to our construction of an early childcare center, we are looking to support the community where it needs it most.

Our Impact

This past year, we saw a huge impact and growth in our community. We brought women’s ski racing to Birds of Prey in Beaver Creek, added more performances to our arts venues and programming than ever before for a total of 282 events and performances. 2024 saw an overall economic impact of $70 million. We had 4,200 youth enrolled in our educational programming through YouthPower365, and 2025 is looking to grow that number.

Let’s Grow Together

We’ve continued to push our work for the community forward by breaking ground on our early childhood education and development center, as well as expanding our Community Arts Access Program to provide free tickets via a lottery system to full-time local residents.

You can grow with us by exploring these programs, attending an event, volunteering, or donating.

During National Nonprofit Day and through the end of the month, we are challenging our community to Donate $25 for 2025: In honor of National Nonprofit Day, we're encouraging supporters to make a $25 donation for 2025!

Every contribution helps us plant seeds of connection, creativity, and opportunity throughout the Vail Valley.

Volunteering with the Vail Valley Foundation is an exciting and rewarding experience. From the Vail Dance Festival where you can interact with the artists to the Birds of Prey Talon Crew and beyond, our volunteers are what make this organization stand out!
