PwrHrs Academic Instructor | YP365

The Vail Valley Foundation’s YouthPower365 PwrHrs program is looking for more qualified staff for the 2018-19 school year.

PwrHrs is an after school program dedicated to advance students’ success in school and beyond by providing both academic and enrichment opportunities. Join our team and work with students in the after school setting one to three days a week at the following locations: Avon Elementary, Brush Creek Elementary, Edwards Elementary, Eagle Valley Elementary, Gypsum Elementary, June Creek Elementary, Homestake Peak School (Elementary and Middle), Red Hill Elementary, Red Sandstone Elementary, Berry Creek Middle, Eagle Valley Middle, Gypsum Creek Middle.

  • Bachelor’s Degree and teaching license strongly preferred
  • Teaching experience
  • Must be 16 years or older
  • Able to pass a background check
  • Available to work:
    • Days: Monday-Friday (1-4 days a week, varies by school)
    • Times: 2:50-5:30pm (varies by school)
  • Establish and demonstrate positive relationships with students, parents, other staff members and the community.
  • Work with School Coordinator and YouthPower365 staff to create and deliver daily lesson plans
  • Identify learning objective, presents content accurately, implements a variety of instructional strategies, checks frequently for student understanding, and monitors student progress
  • Support or create targeted lessons to meet the needs of each student
  • Adapt instruction to meet the learning needs of all students thus increasing the probability of advancing their achievement
  • Provide supervision to students and use behavior management techniques when necessary
  • Create a positive, encouraging space for students to learn
  • Implement and enhance the PwrHrs program based on the YouthPower365 POWER values and objectives
  • Maintain strong relationships with site coordinators to maintain school procedures and cultures
  • Work with teachers & students to define mutual goals
  • Communicate program goals to students and parents
  • Work with existing youthPower365 core staff, site specific staff and volunteers to deliver developmentally appropriate programs with consistency
  • Communicate any issues or difficulties with Site Coordinator and YouthPower365 staff immediately
  • Keep abreast of best and promising practices in the field of youth development and education through reading, research, conferences, etc.
  • Represent YouthPower365 in the community and with partner organization and coalitions

This is an hourly, part-time position.

$30/hour for certified teachers

$18-22/hour for non-certified teachers
