Marketing Intern, Arts

The Vail Valley Foundation (VVF) is seeking a candidate for an exciting summer marketing internship. This position works closely with the VVF Director of Marketing, Arts & Athletics and the VVF Marketing Team to develop and execute marketing and content creation plans to support the VVF Arts projects throughout the summer season. This individual has a passion for traditional, digital, web and social media marketing, as well as a talent for content creation and capture that will effectively promote the VVF brands. Key elements of this internship rely heavily on this individual’s ability to self-start on projects assigned, multi-task, and maintain open lines of communication. Collaboration and teamwork with other VVF departments and team members is integral to the success of this position. This position directly reports to the Director of Marketing, Arts & Athletics.


  • Develop plan for execution of marketing strategies for all summer Arts projects with VVF Director of Marketing, Arts & Athletics
  • Present ideas for content and marketing efforts and integrate feedback effectively
  • Work with VVF Director of Marketing, Arts & Athletics to identify content capture needs
  • Engage with social media fans via interaction on VVF social media platforms
  • Organize photo/video libraries and various department archives
  • Create, send and track email marketing
  • Assist in developing and maintaining website content
  • Use Adobe Creative Cloud suite of products to update collateral and other departmental needs
  • Responsible for coordination of all flyer, poster and some seasonal brochure deliveries.
  • Build copy for web, email and print materials and support in the editing process
  • Provide clear and consistent communication with VVF Director of Marketing, Arts & Athletics, to ensure marketing needs are met
  • Assist with general departmental administrative duties
  • Assist as needed in additional tasks related to successful execution of the VVF summer season

Content Creation/Capture

  • Film, photograph or otherwise capture identified content needs per project for social and email distribution purposes
  • Minor editing of photo/video content
  • Assist in watermarking, captioning, and archiving photographs taken at Arts events throughout the summer
  • Assist in writing blog posts, email newsletters, social media posts, nightly program inserts and other long and short form written content regarding the Vail Dance Festival
  • Prior marketing experience and extensive knowledge of social media platforms
  • Proven organization, time-management, administrative and computer skills
  • Ability to create an environment conducive to teamwork, professionalism and willingness to go above and beyond to accomplish the end product
  • Previous experience working and excelling in a fast paced, multi-level, project-based environment with emphasis on timelines, quality and delivery
  • Self-initiative, attention to detail and a customer-centric philosophy
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Capable of remaining focused and calm under stressful situations and able to quickly adapt to changing conditions
  • Exceptional relationship management and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication
  • General understanding of traditional, digital, web and social media marketing
  • Capable of editing and producing content on specific deadlines for social media and email

  • Willingness to work in outdoor conditions with variable weather
  • Ability to perform physical labor
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, as well as the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, InDesign & Illustrator)
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check and have a valid driver’s license
  • Successful candidates must provide proof of vaccination for COVID-19 due to the nature of the work of the Vail Valley Foundation
  • Preferred, but not required, experience includes:
    • An interest in the arts
    • Experience in email marketing, especially through Mailchimp
    • Knowledge of website CMS, especially Word-press
    • Proven work experience in Adobe Creative Suite

This is a paid internship position. This position begins June 1, 2022, in-person from Avon, Colorado. This position will conclude August 31, 2022. (Start and end date have slight flexibility)

This position is paid $20 an hour, less all applicable taxes and withholdings. Your schedule will vary and may be less than 40 hours per week or more than 40 hours per week, depending on the nature of the work and events taking place. You may also be required to work evenings or weekends.
