Development Operations Manager

The Vail Valley Foundation (VVF) is seeking a non-profit development professional to assist in meeting the fundraising goals of the Vail Valley Foundation. The right individual will have enthusiasm and passion for the mission and vision of the Vail Valley Foundation and be a very driven and self-starting individual.

The Development Operations Manager works in collaboration with the entire Vail Valley Foundation Development Team to ensure we meet our fundraising goals. They will report to the Senior Development Manager and will assist with the gift entry and acknowledgement process and support various administrative tasks for the department. Secondary responsibilities will be to assist with our three major fundraising events and stewardship events as needed.

Strong work ethic, initiative, and interpersonal skills are a must, along with excellent oral and written communication skills.  Candidates must have a proven track record of meeting preset goals, as well as attention to detail and the ability to manage several different projects simultaneously. Creativity and thinking outside the box are required in order to represent the VVF mission and vision to a wide range of audiences. The focus of the position will be on creation of new partnerships and supporters within Eagle County.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 3+ years of database experience required within the fundraising sector. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or a comparable fundraising software with strong technology skills including Excel, and be able to learn new programs quickly.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a strong team with fellow development colleagues and entire staff.
  • Detail-oriented, excellent organizational skills, ability to work on multiple projects and manage deadlines.
  • Willingness to provide support to the greater VVF Development team and the Vail Valley Foundation staff as available and necessary.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends for events.
  • Strong interpersonal and people skills and the ability to work professionally with staff, board members, donors, sponsors and volunteers.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills that consistently communicate key messaging and mission.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information and materials.
  • Consistently accept feedback; set, meet and exceed goals.
  • Must pass a background check, have a valid driver’s license, be able to work in a moderately loud and dynamic work environment, and use standard office equipment.
  • Responsible for all data entry, gift processing, acknowledgement activities, year-end tax receipts, pledge reminders, and renewals.
  • Update donor information and maintain the health of the Raiser’s Edge database.
  • Work with the Senior Development Manager and the Finance Department to ensure the accurate processing of all donations.
  • Maintain Raiser’s Edge to ensure the accurate tracking of all campaigns and funds for all development funds and events.
  • Reconcile and charge donors after events.
  • Run queries and provide reports as requested by Development staff.
  • Research donors and prospects to help meet fundraising and event attendance goals.
  • Assist in production process of direct mail projects, renewals and donor benefit mailings.
  • Support fundraising events, stewardship activities, and VVF events in various capacities, as needed.
  • Assist development team with various projects throughout the year.
